Just a few years after becoming The Cripple Guy (2 to be exact). I was careless, fearless, head in the clouds stupid to be honest. On this stupendous occasion I was in Full form. I was at my High School just riding around while waiting on my dad to come and get me when I had a great idea! I should take my wheelchair up that off-road trail behind the school. Mind you, I did have the greatest wheelchair ever made (still to this day), the Quickie P-200. This chair could climb a tree, I kid you not. I use to ride wheelies, screech tires, and all sorts of crazy things in that beast. So, I had all the confidence in the world especially with my fear nothing mentality, I mean I did survive breaking my neck, Hellllo.
So off I go, eating that hill up like a top ranked motor cross driver. Of course the P-200 did exactly as I thought, no problems what so ever, That was easy enough I thought. Here I am like a general looking down at the conquered enemy, feeling so proud and overly accomplished. When your young you tend not to think things through. Without a care in the world I gun it back down the trail, bouncing around in the chair, flinging rocks and dust everywhere. It's about half way down (with a smile on my face) that I realize I got some serious speed here. As I hit the bottom I try my best to stop but my tires just keep sliding and before I know it I'm heading straight for a ditch. Flipping out of a chair, Turning a chair over, crashing in all manners was not new to me but this would be my first ditch encounter.
The dust settles, I regain my senses, and find myself in that nice and cozy ditch. Nice and cozy because it was completely dry and had nothing that a ditch usually has in it. Good luck if you want to call it that, BUT I'M STILL IN A DITCH! So I just start yelling hoping that someone hears me. Now here is where luck does make an appearance, a friend of mine was walking home and heard me. Picture this though, he hears me yelling but don't see me because I'm in the ditch. "Brian?", "Yes it's me". "Where are you" he asks, Not thinking I reply, "Over here." (lol). Finally I tell him in the ditch and he calls my dad and they help me back in the chair. One of my more memorable Flips but there are a lot more and crazier circumstances. Looking back no regrets, had fun and makes a great story. More to come!
